Assessor

Responsibilities 

The Assessors are responsible for the valuation of all the town’s Real and Personal property in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The real estate values are based on the “full and fair cash value” of the market as of January 1st of each year. The Assessors analyze vast amounts of property and ownership related information, including actual market sales of each property from the previous calendar year.  

The Assessors office reviews all recorded deeds and plans through the Northern Essex Registry of Deeds. The Assessor's office also reviews all building permits that have been issued by the Department of Community Development & Planning.

When Are Taxes Due
Taxes are due quarterly on the following dates:

  • August 1st, 2023
  • November 1st, 2023
  • February 1st, 2024
  • May 1st, 2024

motor vehicle excise TAX

The Town of Andover issued the calendar year 2024 motor vehicle excise tax bills (1st Commitment) on Friday, February 16th, 2024. Payment of your motor vehicle excise to the Town of Andover Treasurer/Collector is due by Monday, March 18th, 2024 to avoid costly penalties, interest, and fees.
