In April, the Select Board adopted a Tree Removal and Replacement Policy which is intended to improve the notification system when trees are scheduled to be removed, establish a timeline for the replacement of trees, and create a mechanism to facilitate donations to a town tree fund.

The policy also establishes a Tree Committee that will be responsible for developing a tree bylaw to be considered by Town Meeting, evaluating best practices for planting trees in public right of ways, weighing the incorporation of tree plantings in construction projects, and assessing the relationship of trees in the Town’s complete street efforts.
The Tree Committee will be comprised of 9 members, appointed to 3 year terms. Members of the community that are interested in serving are encouraged to apply by completing an online talent bank form.
