Lieutenant Scott began his law enforcement career in 2006 after graduating from the Boston Police Academy. He was initially assigned to the Patrol Division in a uniformed capacity. In 2008, Lieutenant Scott was reassigned to the Detective Division, specifically into the Substance Abuse Unit. As a member of the Substance Abuse Unit, Lieutenant Scott was involved in hundreds of arrests as well as in the surrounding communities. Lieutenant Scott was involved in the seizure of illegal narcotics, currency, and firearms, and also took part in numerous undercover narcotics transactions. As a result, Lieutenant Scott and his partner were awarded the 2011 Lawrence Exchange Club “Police Officer of the Year” for the Andover Police Department, the Andover Police Department’s “Robert T. Black Award” for 2011, and a New England Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association “Special Achievement Award” in 2012. Lieutenant Scott was also a member of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) Regional Response Team from 2008 to 2013.

In 2013, Lieutenant Scott was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as the Patrol Supervisor on the 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. shift, later to the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. shift until he was assigned to the newly created position of Community Support Sergeant. In this roll, Lieutenant Scott worked closely with the Community Support Coordinator and supervised the School Resource Officers, Court Liaison Officer, and Domestic Violence/Elder Affairs Officer. Lieutenant Scott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2017 and has served as the 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shift Commander for the past 8 years. He also serves as the department’s Accreditation Manager.

Lieutenant Scott holds a BA degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University. He is a graduate of the 512th Session of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and has completed the FBI LEEDA’s Leadership School Trilogy. Lieutenant Scott has been an assessor for the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC) since 2019.
