Dog License

The Town of Andover is excited to welcome your dog to our community!

Any dog over the age of 6 months is required by Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 140 to be licensed annually. The licensing period runs from January 1st to December 31st of each calendar year regardless of when your dog’s license was issued.

If you own more than 4 dogs, please note that you will need to obtain a Kennel License. For more information regarding this, please contact the Town Clerk's Office.

Please note that you will need to provide a copy of your dog’s current rabies vaccination certificate as part of this process.

Town of Andover Dog License fees are as follows:
  • $13 per dog that is spayed or neutered
  • $14 per intact dog

Any dog not licensed by March 1st is subject to a $5 late fee per month not licensed.
New dogs are not subject to late fees.

2026 Dog License renewals will open Saturday, December 13th. If you licensed your dog in 2025, an email with a link will be sent allowing you to quickly renew your dog's license and make your payment online.
